PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -

Police are looking for a robbery suspect who threatened a 7-Eleven employee at gunpoint early Thursday morning in Palm Springs.

The attempted robbery was reported at 7 a.m. at a 7-Eleven at 1798 N. Sunrise Way.

A man "browsed" the store, walked to the counter and displayed what could have been a handgun in his waistband, Palm Springs police Sgt. Mike Kovaleff said.

He demanded money, the clerk refused and the suspect ran off without taking anything, Kovaleff said.

The suspect was described as a white man in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds.

He was wearing black shoes, black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and a black ball cap.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the Palm Springs Police Department at (760) 323-8116 or Coachella Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.
