PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -

UPDATE: The owner of a Palm Springs consignment store has removed an ad on Craigslist claiming to sell Sonny Bono's skis.

The Ad was dated January 1, and was removed after media attention on January 23rd.

The skis wer pictured still wrapped in plastic from the airline after being shipped back to Palm Springs after the Congressman's death.

Sonny Bono was killed after a skiing accident on January 5th, 1998 in South Lake Tahoe.

The ad was asking for offers including trade of antiques.

It is not known how the skis came to the consignment shop.

Mary Bono Mack confirmed that the skis did belong to the family.  She added that it seems like a strange thing to sell as a collectible.
