Man in Cathedral City wanted police to shoot him

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. -

Cathedral City Police responding to a domestic disturbance call on Monday were greeted by a man wanting someone to shoot him.

Officers found 39-year-old Christopher Lopez Ramirez toting a pellet rifle with a scope.

Earlier dispatchers had received a call that a man had his hunting rifle and was saying he wanted police to shoot him.

Police arrested Ramirez and took him to Desert Regional Medical Center for mental evaluation.

Police tell us Ramirez has had previous run-ins with the law involving narcotics, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon convictions.
