The Palm Springs City Council will discuss the agreement they've made to renovate the Fashion Plaza on Palm Canyon.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -

Today's meeting of the Palm Springs City Council  will include a public hearing on approval of the Downtown Revitalization Plan.
In November 2011, a sales tax increase called Measure J was approved by  voters to fund public infrastructure improvements and bankroll a $43 million  investment in a downtown shopping center. The measure raised the city's sales  tax from 7.75 percent to 8.75 percent.
The Downtown Revitalization Plan includes replacing a downtown mall with  a pedestrian-friendly "urban village" featuring retail, entertainment and  public spaces. The developer is Wessman Development, also known as Palm Springs  Promenade LLC.
"I encourage every Palm Springs resident and businessperson with an  interest in the future of our city to attend this important meeting and learn  more about the Downtown Revitalization Plan and how it will reconfigure the  heart of our central business district," said Mayor Steve Pougnet.
Residents can watch the meeting live on Time/Warner Cable Channel 121 or  Palm Springs Community Television Channel 17. The meeting will also be shown  online at www.palmspringsca.gov.
