Driving on underinflated tires can have serious consequences.

According to Edmunds.com, underinflated tires can result in a blowout while you’re driving, which can put you at risk for a serious auto accident.

Underinflated tires can also cost you money. Drivers tend to go through more gas when their tires are underinflated. Tires also wear out more quickly when they are underinflated, causing you to have to replace your tires more often.

To make sure your tires are properly inflated, make sure you check your tire pressure regularly. To check your tire pressure, you will need a tire gauge. Check the required tire pressure for your car (it is usually located on the door in the driver’s side, or in the owner’s manual). To get the most accurate reading, you should check the tires when they are cold. Insert the gauge into the valve on each tire and record the reading. Compare your tire pressure with the recommended value. If your tire pressure is too low, then you should immediately add more air.
