Christmas and holiday favorite "Nutcracker" takes center stage in Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -

Local dancers will perform ``The Nutcracker'' Thursday night and Friday night at the Annenberg Theater in Palm Springs.

   Both performances are at 7 p.m. at the theater at the Palm Springs Art Museum, 101 N. Museum Drive.

   The 10th anniversary performance is directed by Catherine Demonchaux-Botwin of Desert Dance Academy in Palm Springs and will feature 60 dancers age 4 to adult.

   Karlo Eduardo Ramiro Ramirez of Cathedral City, a hip-hop artist, will play a mechanical doll and participate in the Spanish Dance in the ``candy scene.'' Gianna Hardison of Yucca Valley will dance the role of Clara, James Kendall of Pioneer Town is the Nutcracker, Angela Monetathchi of Palm Desert is  the Sugar Plum Fairy and former professional dancer Wayne Lowell of Cathedral City is Drosselmeyer.
