CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. -

Longtime city clerk for Cathedral City, Pat Hammers, 73, died early Sunday from natural causes at her home, according to a city spokeswoman Leisa Lukes.

Cathedral City Mayor Kathy DeRosa says Hammers was a resident of Cathedral City for 20 years and city clerk almost 10 years, having been re-elected last Nov. 2012. DeRosa went on to call Hammers,  "special.......forever ".

Lynn Mallotto, President of the Cathedral City Chamber of Commerce and who once served as Hammers Deputy Clerk  tell us, "she was very much like a "mom" ...in fact, several employees at the City would say, "Your Mother is looking for you".  Mallotto added, "she had a heart of gold".

``It's a sad day for Cathedral City,'' said Andy Hall City Manager ``She
will be missed.''

Hammers is survived by her sister Pearl of Cathedral City and a daughter and two grandchildren of St. Louis, MO. Forest Lawn is handling arrangements.
