Billy Blanks kicks people into gear

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -

What's better than a Saturday morning outdoor Tae Bo session? A Saturday morning outdoor Tae Bo session with Billy Blanks.

"It's not a hard workout. It's a workout if you listen to the instructions, it's something you basically do everyday," Tae Bo creator Billy Blanks said.

Whether people agree it's not a hard workout or not, they agree it's a workout.

"Oh yeah, right here, you can feel it right away!" Martha Buelna said.
     
The class took part in Mayor Pougnet's series of "Healthy Planet, Healthy You" events.

"If we can keep doing this, encouraging people to get here in the wellness park or in their neighborhoods, working out together, that's what it's all about," Michele Mician, the sustainability manager for the city of Palm Springs, said.

More than 100 people kicked and punched away their stress at Ruth Hardy Wellness Park in Palm Springs with the founder of Tae Bo.

"I always say to people, 'How much power do you have?'. They say, 'A lot,' and I say, 'Prove it,'" Blanks said.
     
"When you do it, you hurt, but you want to keep doing it," Buelna said.

Post workout, Billy Gathered everyone around him, telling them the importance of mind and words over matter.

"Remember how much power your words have. You have a lot of authority. You can either sit down on your words or get up and move on your words," Blanks said.

If you're trying to get off the couch, Mr. Blanks would like to tell you something.

"You have the power, put on the power. You can do it," he said.

How can you say no to that?
