COACHELLA, Calif. -

Sheriff's deputies in Coachella sought the public's help today in finding the gunman who wounded a man in his driveway, then rode off on a bicycle.

The shooting in the 52000 block of Calle Camacho was reported at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, sheriff's Sgt. Steve DaSilva said.

The victim, whose name was withheld, was standing in his driveway when a man rode up on a bicycle and an argument started "during which the suspect fired several times at the victim, striking him once," DaSilva said.

The victim was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening wound, DaSilva said.

The suspect was described only as a Hispanic man in dark clothing on a bicycle.

Anyone with more information as to the name or whereabouts of the shooter was asked to call sheriff's Investigator Ken Willow at (760) 863-8461, Coachella Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867, or send an email to thermalstationriversidesheriff.org.
