Fire crews on scene of house fire on Garner Avenue in Cathedral City

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif -

Fire crews put out a fire at home on Garner Avenue in Cathedral City.  The fire erupted at a home on the 65-000 block of Garner Avenue near San Eljay Avenue around 4:45 P.M. Monday Evening.

Crews were able to keep the flames contained to the garage area, where a homeowner tells us the fire started.

The homeowner says the fire started in his Lincoln Navigator parked in the garage.  The fire quickly consumed the SUV then the walls of the garage.  Crews arrived quickly and evacuated the house and had the fire under control around 5:15 P.M.

The exact cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.  As of 5:30 P.M. Crews remained on scene mopping up and investigating the cause.

Check back here for updates as we get them.
