INDIO, Calif. -

Indio Police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with shooting at CHP officers last week in Indio.

Late Thursday evening Indio Police Public Information Officer Ben Guitron reported that 34 year old David Hurtado, of Indio was arrested in connection with shooting at 2 CHP officers and a Border Patrol agent.

According to CHP, on Monday just before 1:00 a.m., two CHP officers were conducting a DUI investigation, of a driver on Cabazon Road west of Dillon Road, when numerous rapid gun shots were heard coming from just east of the Officers' location.

The Officers sought cover, while insuring both the driver and passenger of the vehicle they had stopped, were also safely behind cover.  A light colored vehicle was observed stopped in the intersection of Dillon Road and Cabazon Road where the gunfire originated from.

It was determined the gunfire was directed towards the Officers.  There were no injuries or any damage resulting from the gun fire.

Hurtado is charged with 3 counts of attempted murder on a peace officer and conspiracy.
