Dust advisory issued for the Coachella Valley
The South Coast Air Quality Management District issued a dust advisory today for the Coachella Valley because of gusty winds blowing dust and sand.
The winds caused particle concentrations in the air to reach an unhealthy level for sensitive groups, which include people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children. Concentrations were expected remain around that level through the end of the day, according to the advisory.
In areas affected by dust, everyone should avoid vigorous outdoor or indoor exertion and those considered in sensitive groups should stay inside, according to the AQMD.
